Prior to joining Ella Cheong LLC, Jia Ying specialized in general civil litigation pertaining to a wide variety of matters ranging from actions in defamation, personal and corporate insolvency, and MCST and other contractual disputes. She has assisted in cases held under the auspices of the State Court, High Court, Singapore International Commercial Court and Court of Appeal. She has also assisted counsel in international arbitration conducted pursuant to the ICC Rules of Arbitration.

After developing her legal craft with work on personal injury claims, Jia Ying decided to take a step back from general litigation to pursue a burgeoning interest in Intellectual Property (IP). Since joining Ella Cheong LLC, Jia Ying now focuses her practice on IP-related matters on both contentious and non-contentious fronts. Her present scope of work includes trademark filing, prosecution and enforcement/disputes, including trademark oppositions.

Jia Ying is bilingual in English and Mandarin and understands a smattering of Hokkien.

In her free time, she enjoys experimental cooking to the benefit (and/or horror) of her adopted canine boys.
