Shanthyia graduated with an L.L.B. (Hons) from University of Hertfordshire, in 2014. She started her career as a junior trade mark executive in one of the largest law firms in Kuala Lumpur in 2014. She then ventured into teaching, during which time she obtained her TEFL certificate and became a part-time ESL teacher as well as a Law tutor. She has gained experience in many other areas of in-house legal practice over the years.

At Ella Cheong, Shanthyia focusses her practice on Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio management, including clearance searches and prosecution of applications for registration of IP both domestically and internationally.

In her free time, she enjoys playing football, badminton, golf and chess.
