COVID-19 ASEAN Update: Malaysia – 15 Apr 2020

We would like to provide you the following further update on the COVID-19 situation in Malaysia:
The nation-wide lockdown of Malaysia has been further extended to 28 April 2020. The Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO) and our Kuala Lumpur office remain closed until the end of the lockdown period, which is to be further directed by the government. Deadlines falling due during the lockdown period are further extended as follows:
- Priority deadlines for manual trade mark, patent and design filings are extended to 4 May 2020 (but applicants are strongly recommended by MyIPO to file by 29 April 2020)
- Trade mark office action and opposition deadlines are extended to 15 May 2020
- Patent and design renewals falling due are extended to 15 May 2020
- Trade marks renewal deadlines expiring between 27 December 2019 and 14 May 2020 are extended to 15 May 2020
